If your blink mini camera is flashing red, it’s a sign that you have an internet connection problem or a battery issue. The problem may be fixed with a simple power cycle, which discharges your Blink Mini from power and resets it to the factory defaults.
It’s also possible for the red light to appear while you are setting up your Blink camera (the blink indoor, outdoor, XT, and XT2 cameras). When this happens, the camera will flash green during setup until it finds an appropriate connection.
Battery
When your Blink mini camera red light flashes red, it means there is either a bad internet connection or a battery issue. It’s important to check both your batteries and make sure they are working properly.

The blink mini camera uses two AA 1.5-volt lithium batteries. These are a good battery choice for this device because they have a long life expectancy and are easy to replace.
This device also has a built-in battery expansion pack, which allows it to use four AA batteries instead of just two. This is supposed to extend its battery lifespan, which Blink claims will last for a period of two years.
However, it is recommended to change your batteries every 1-2 years to keep them functioning at their best. This is especially true if you’re using the camera in conjunction with a Wi-Fi network, which will suck up a lot of power.
Wi-Fi
Blink mini cameras flash a red light when they cannot connect to their Wi-Fi connection. This is a normal part of the setup process, but it can also indicate an internet connection issue.
If you’re sure your internet is working, you can factory reset the camera to fix this problem. But be careful, this will reboot the device and update its software.
To factory reset the sync module, press and hold its reset button until it blinks red. Use a thin object (like a needle or paperclip) to do this.
This should remove the red LED and bring the device back to its default green and blue lights. Then, you can reconnect it to the app and start recording.
Motion Detection
Blink Mini cameras come with motion detection, allowing them to send alerts via a mobile app or smart speaker like the Amazon Echo Show. You can also turn the camera off if you don’t want to receive motion-triggered alerts.
One thing that’s a little unusual about blink cameras is the red light they flash to indicate motion detection. While this can be useful, it’s also a bit distracting, especially when it’s in a dark room or on an otherwise blank wall.
Fortunately, the blink app can help identify activity zones, so you can set the camera to detect movement in a certain area without setting off every time it spots something.
If you still notice the red light occasionally, it’s possible there’s an issue with your Wi-Fi connection. You can try reconnecting the camera to the Wi-Fi and see if that resolves the problem.
Settings
If your blink mini camera has a red light, it indicates that the camera isn’t connecting to the internet. It may be because the WiFi password is wrong, or it may be due to a low battery.
Blink cameras use AA batteries, so the battery needs to be replaced before you can fix this problem. You can find the battery compartment by removing the cover of the camera.
The Blink app also shows the camera’s battery life, so it’s easy to see if your batteries are getting low.
If a Blink camera flashes a red light 5 or 6 times, it usually means that the batteries are dead and need to be changed. You’ll want to replace both AA Lithium batteries at the same time to stop this problem.
