The blink camera will flash red when it’s unable to connect to the internet or your WiFi network.
While it may seem that a bad internet connection or low batteries are the main reasons behind your blink camera’s flashing red light, there are other issues that can be at play as well.
Battery
If the blink camera is flashing red it means that something is wrong with the hardware of the camera. This can be caused by a number of issues, including battery problems or faulty connections to the network.
If this is the case, replace your batteries as soon as possible to ensure you don’t have a dead camera down the road. Also, be sure to track your battery usage so you know when it’s time for a replacement.
If all of your attempts to troubleshoot the problem haven’t worked, you’ll need to perform a hard reset on your Blink camera. This will reboot the device back to factory settings and start over from scratch.
WiFi Connection
If you have a blink camera and it flashes red, there are a few possible reasons. First, the camera could be struggling to connect to WiFi.
This is very common for these cameras and can often be fixed by resetting the camera to its default settings. To do this, locate the reset button on the right side of the camera (usually around the USB port).
Then press and hold the button with a thin object like a paper clip. Wait a few minutes for the process to finish.
Another reason why the Blink camera might be flashing red is due to a Sync Module issue. If the Sync Module is missing, the camera will be unable to connect to Wi-Fi and will not display any live video streams.
Software Updates
If you’re not connected to the internet, your blink camera will flash red in a pulsing pattern. This indicates that your camera is trying to reconnect to your network but can’t find a reliable connection.
Fortunately, the issue is easy to resolve. Simply give your Blink camera a few seconds to reconfigure and regain a stable network connection.
Software updates are crucial for keeping electronic devices and networks secure. They patch security vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit to gain access to your data or a computer network. They also add new features and remove old ones that no longer work properly.
Sync Module
If you’re experiencing a flashing red light on your Blink camera, it may be caused by the Sync Module. This little device connects your Blink cameras to one IP address so they can be easily configured and accessed.
To reset a Sync Module, locate the reset button on the right-hand side of your Sync Module near the USB port. Use a small, thin object (like a paper clip) to push the button until it is solid red.
This causes the Sync Module to reboot back into setup mode. After the Sync Module is in setup mode, your camera should stop blinking red and start working properly again.
