Blink camera red lights indicate a variety of issues, from low batteries to Wi-Fi problems. Sometimes all you need to do is reset your device and it will work again.

For Blink Outdoor, Indoor, XT2, and XT cameras, a blinking red light means that the camera is not connected to the Internet.

1. Battery

Blink cameras have two lithium batteries that provide reliable and consistent security monitoring. It is important to replace the batteries regularly, especially if you use them frequently.

If your battery is low, the blink camera red light will flash 5-6 times after the blue light (recording light) goes out. This is an indicator that it’s time to change the batteries.

The red light can also indicate a connectivity issue. This is a common problem with most wifi-enabled cameras, and it can be fixed by reconnecting to your Internet.

Another possibility is that your Blink camera is detecting movement, or it’s busy setting up. However, this usually doesn’t mean it’s not working.

2. Wi-Fi

When setting up a new Blink Indoor, Outdoor, XT, or XT2 camera, the red light on the camera flashes quickly and repeatedly to establish an internet connection until everything is setup. The light will then go solid blue when the camera is fully connected.

3. Reset

Resetting your Blink device, often called a factory reset (also known as a hard reset), can help fix some issues. However, you should only do this if you know what you’re doing and have the right information.

First, make sure that you have the correct batteries installed in your camera. This is easy to do by inserting 2 new AA Lithium batteries into the battery compartment, which can be found at the back of the camera.

Second, check that your Sync Module is functioning properly. To do this, open the Blink Home Monitor app and tap on Sync Module Status.

If your Sync Module is working properly, the red light will not blink when recording. If it does, the batteries may be low and need to be replaced. This can also be a sign that your Wi-Fi is having problems. Luckily, there are several things you can do to get your Blink devices online again.

4. Pairing

During pairing, the camera flashes 5 long flashes to confirm the connection. If the 5 long flashes aren’t seen, your battery may be low or there might be a problem with your camera cable.
